Given the exponential growth in the number of users and the engagement of mobile users, it is set to become a real communication opportunity for reaching <strong>\u201cPok\u00e9-users\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>What exactly is Pok\u00e9mon Go?<\/h2>\n<p>We all know the story of <strong>Ash<\/strong>, a Pok\u00e9mon trainer accompanied by his faithful <strong>Pikachu<\/strong>, and his ambition to become a Pok\u00e9mon Master. But before becoming an animated series, <strong>Pok\u00e9mon<\/strong> was a game created by <strong>Satoshi Tajiri<\/strong> for <strong>Nintendo<\/strong>. Since July 6, when it was released in the United States, the franchise has seen the arrival of its first mobile version. Nintendo had been working on this new game for several years, notably with <a href=\"http:\/\/pokemongo.nianticlabs.com\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Niantic<\/a>, which had already developed a game based on the same geolocation principle called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ingress.com\/intel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ingress<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the game is to catch as many <strong>Pok\u00e9mon<\/strong> as possible and use them in battle arenas against other players. The game is based on geolocation and augmented reality. As you walk around while using the app, you will occasionally encounter Pok\u00e9mon that you need to catch. Some Pok\u00e9mon are rarer and more powerful than others.<\/p>\n<p>For example, today at the agency, we discovered Psyduck.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-33913 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.feed-manager.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/18f28717-5490-48e5-8ba6-b5c79773ebb1.png\" alt=\"18f28717-5490-48e5-8ba6-b5c79773ebb1\" width=\"353\" height=\"703\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To better understand how it works, here is the first trailer:<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GQgbXJub-IQ<\/p>\n<h2>Rapid user engagement<\/h2>\n<p>The day after its release, the game was already extremely popular, and just a few days later, users were spending more time on the app than on social networks such as Instagram, Snapchat and Messenger, according to a Similar Web study. Pok\u00e9mon Go was even reportedly on the verge of overtaking Twitter in terms of active users.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-33905 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.feed-manager.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/time-v-social.png\" alt=\"time-v-social\" width=\"668\" height=\"484\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The enthusiasm surrounding this new phenomenon should encourage advertisers to take advantage of the opportunity to communicate and promote their brands.<\/p>\n<h2>A new tool for generating traffic<\/h2>\n<p>As this video shows, when a rare Pok\u00e9mon appears somewhere, it can generate a huge amount of traffic\u2026<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SDsiJCQSmvk<\/p>\n<p>It is precisely this ability to generate traffic that could be particularly interesting to exploit. If you have the opportunity to have a rare Pok\u00e9mon appear in your store or at a tourist attraction, it could quickly generate additional foot traffic. Until just a few days ago, <strong>NianticsLabs<\/strong> offered a form allowing businesses to request that a Gym, Pok\u00e9Stop or Pok\u00e9mon be made available at their location. Unfortunately, the form has been removed for now\u2026 Perhaps this will give <strong>Nintendo<\/strong> time to find the right business model.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-33906 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.feed-manager.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/ql7sekqxo0ohxhvhtkre.png\" alt=\"ql7sekqxo0ohxhvhtkre\" width=\"639\" height=\"422\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>CPPC: Cost Per Pok\u00e9mon Caught!<\/h2>\n<p>The Feed Manager teams therefore looked into the question: What kind of business model could be implemented, and above all, what performance indicators could be used to measure it?<\/p>\n<p>It seems quite likely that the business model would be based on a fixed fee. But how long would the Pok\u00e9mon remain available? How many times could it be caught, and by how many different people? The price could also vary depending on the rarity of the Pok\u00e9mon.<\/p>\n<p>Even though the commercial conditions remain hypothetical for now, the objective will be to quickly measure the return on investment of this new advertising format. A store\u2019s revenue or the number of visitors to a museum could help measure its impact, but Niantic would need to prove that Pok\u00e9mon Go was responsible for the increase in activity.
